The job
As an Inventory Manager at Haarslev, you will be responsible for overseeing the company's inventory management processes and procedures. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring accurate inventory records, efficient stock control, and timely supply chain management to support the operational needs of the organization.
You will report to the President of Haarslev, Inc and be a part of the Operations team in North America.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Implement and maintain inventory management strategies that optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs while ensuring sufficient stock to meet demand.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management software or systems.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory records and resolve any discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory movements and stock levels to identify potential issues or shortages and take proactive measures to address them.
- Collaborate with service, aftermarket, and sales teams to forecast inventory needs and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Responsible for inventory performance such as on hand fill rates, control of non-moving inventory, turn ratio etc.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to resolve inventory-related issues and optimize efficiency.
Supply Chain Management:
- Forecast demand and coordinate with procurement teams to ensure adequate stock levels based on sales trends and forecasts.
Shipping and Receiving:
- Supervise the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. Ensure accuracy in receiving and shipping documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and safeguard accurate inventory counts. Implement systems to optimize inventory management and minimize discrepancies.
- Lead a team of warehouse associates. Assign tasks, provide training, and evaluate performance to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
- Enforce quality and safety procedures and confirm compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to warehouse operations, including hazardous materials handling and storage.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously review and streamline inventory management processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize inventory control, streamline warehouse operations, and minimize waste.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and key performance metrics.
- Analyze data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on inventory analysis.
Facility Management:
- Maintain buildings and machines for Haarslev NA locations.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of warehouse personnel, shipping/receiving personnel by providing guidance, training, and support.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the inventory management team.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Inventory Manager or similar role, with a track record of successfully managing inventory in a fast-paced manufactured product environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory management best practices, procedures, and software systems (e.g., ERP, inventory management software).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; additional certification (e.g., CPIM) is a plus.
